RAW is committed to develop, enhance, & promote wrestlers to raise the level of Oklahoma wrestling, while building character along the way.
Roller Academy of Wrestling (RAW) was founded by Shane Roller. Shane has always had a dream to start an Elite Training Program for wrestlers who desire to be the best. This is not only for the Elite Wrestlers, but for Open wrestlers of all ages who wish to learn high level technique broken down so they can understand it. Shane has gathered up the best technique in the country shown to him by wrestlers including John Smith, Pat Smith, Mark Branch, Danny Hodge, and countless others.
Passing along techniques to any eager-to-learn wrestler who is ready to reach the next level.
The only requirement to become a RAW member is that the wrestler must be able to sit and give the instructors 100% attention during practice. No horseplay will be tolerated. There are many of these Elite Training Academies across the Nation and most are producing National Champions every year. Shane is confident that this Academy will be no different. He has put together a game plan that will allow RAW to help your wrestler accomplish all their goals and dreams.
Shane Roller + Coaches!
Shane Roller has had success in all levels of the sport of wrestling. He began wrestling at the age of four after begging to start the previous two seasons while attending his older brother’s practices. Roller won his first state title in the first grade, which started a streak that spanned over the next 12 seasons. He held the record for the most state titles in OKWA and the most Tulsa Nationals titles (eight of each – 1st through 8th grade). During Shane’s freshman year he won his first high school state title defeating one of Oklahoma’s top seniors in the state finals. Shane went on to have a stellar high school career that left him with four state titles and a 141-3 record. He won the high school Nationals and was chosen the outstanding wrestler of that tournament his senior year. Roller also received the Junior Hodge Award his senior year that was awarded to the nation’s most dominant high school wrestler.
Shane chose to continue his wrestling career at Oklahoma State University. He again had much success on the mat, but would be the very first to tell you that he didn’t accomplish his goal of becoming a National Champion as a Cowboy. Although he never stood on the top of the podium, he still had an amazing college career. He was a three time All-American placing 3rd, 4th and 3rd his sophomore, Junior and senior seasons respectively.
Roller is very proud of instilling the same work ethic on the mat and in the classroom. He became a three time Academic All-American while at OSU. Another accomplishment he is proud of is the fact that he was chosen as a co-captain of the 2003 NCAA Team Champions. After competing for the Cowboys, Coach Smith asked Shane to stay on staff and help the Cowboys continue their reign. That is exactly what happened while Shane was helping coach. He coached three seasons with the Cowboys and they were National Champions all three years; 2004, 2005 and 2006. Shane finished his Master’s Degree in Health and Human Performance while coaching and then in 2007 he began an MMA career. He quickly went up the ranks and fought for the top organization in the sport, the UFC. Shane decided to retire from the sport at age 33 in 2012.
Shane enjoys spending his free time with his family, usually coaching one of his children in whichever sport they are involved in at the time. Shane is married to Jennifer and they have four children; Jace, Jadyn, Jordyn and Jaxon.
